About Julia Stalder

Julia oversees Stalder Mediation’s operations and business development.  Trained as both a mediator and attorney, Julia also brings to Stalder Mediation two decades of organizational management and development experience.

Prior to joining forces with her husband in 2012, Julia held senior staff and consulting positions at several New York-area non-profit organizations, including the Peaks Foundation, the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and Hadassah.  In 2024, Julia founded DCIS Understood, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women navigate their diagnosis and treatment of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), commonly known as “stage 0” breast cancer.

Through her non-profit work, Julia has created and implemented comprehensive and strategic development plans for organizations in both the start-up and more well-established phases, and has forged dozens of successful philanthropic partnerships totaling over $1 million.  She is well-versed in helping organizations institute efficient practices and cultivate strategic relationships to maximize their short- and long-term programmatic and financial goals, and she is thrilled to bring this expertise to Stalder Mediation.

Julia also brings rich experience working with boards of directors and teams of staff to navigate challenging group decision-making and move towards productive outcomes and organizational growth.  Julia understands the myriad challenges faced by organizations of varying types and sizes, including, and especially, the interpersonal and communication hurdles that can inhibit many organizations and individuals from reaching their professional goals.  Her sensitivity to these organizational systems and challenges help guide our work.

Earlier in her career, Julia practiced law at Chadbourne & Parke LLP, focusing on estate planning and family matters.  Julia received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Emory University.
